Inspire, educate and support women of color on their journey toward living a healthy lifestyle.
To build a nationwide team of women of color triathletes who compete, complete and have fun!
Empowerment – We believe in the power of crossing the finish line.
Community – Building an inclusive community that supports athletes needs and builds strong bonds with businesses that support multisport.
Respect – Every team member, regardless of physical ability, level of experience or demographic profile, is provided with the same level of encouragement and kindness.
Integrity – Focus on what makes us better humans, not faster; shaping our character to positively impact those around us.
RYPE is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to inspiring, educating and supporting women, especially women of color, on their journey towards living a healthy lifestyle; with the catalyst being the sport of Triathlon. In 2003, a few months before turning the RYPE-ole age of 35, founder Michelle Grady completed her first triathlon. The magnitude of the accomplishment was overwhelming and provided such an amazing sense of empowerment that she had to share it with others. So RYPE was launched as a fun way to motivate women to stay on the healthy lifestyle track.
At RYPE we aim to positively impact the health crisis in our country, specifically for women of color, by developing a community that teaches healthy well-being practices. Team RYPE is a USAT-sanctioned triathlon club that provides a nurturing space for members to learn about, train for and compete in multi-sport activities. Our members range in experience from novice swimmers, cyclists and runners to full IRONMAN 140.6 finishers, each looking to mentor and support new athletes on their journey to the finish line. Our workouts and clinics are geared toward multisport athletes of all abilities. Joining Team RYPE is a great way to improve your multisport skills and meet others who are passionate about the sport of triathlon and their health, all while having fun!
To add to our community of triathletes, in 2019 we started a program for girls grads 7-12. Drawing inspiration from our Team RYPE experiences, as well as the growing availability of NCAA Women’s Varsity Triathlon scholarship opportunities, we launched RYPE Girls. The goal of this program is to provide healthy well-being education and training, while also exposing our junior triathletes to the world of collegiate triathlon and the benefits of being a student triathlete. We accomplish this through team training, clinics and partnerships with area NCAA Women’s Triathlon teams.
RYPE Celebrates the empowerment found in the sport of triathlon, so our vision is to create a community of women, of all ages, who want to just TRI it! The sport embodies physical, mental and emotional wellness, and we think that this is an invaluable tool for woman, especially women of color, to carry with her.
